COLLEGE FOOTBALL: FAU Drops 21-13 Decision to LA Tech

BOCA RATON, Fla. Florida Atlantic University saw its 10-game home streak end on Friday night at the hands of Louisiana Tech.

“The day started really well on both sides of the ball. We had good tempo moving the ball offensively. I think (LA Tech) had 20 yards rushing at the half and just five in the first quarter. We were running the ball and stopping the run, we just screwed up with some turnovers (offensively), didn’t get turnovers (defensively) and were atrocious on third down,” said head coach Lane Kiffin.

The Owls took the early 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but a two-touchdown second quarter by the Bulldogs would prove enough for the remainder of the game and the eventual 21-13 win.

Devin Singletary’s 59th career rushing touchdown capped off a six-play, 79-yard drive. The extra point was good to give FAU a 7-0 lead.

Vladimir Rivas made a 29-yard field goal to put the Owls up 10-0. Later Rivas connected on a 28-yard field goal to bring the Owls within one.

FAU is now 3-5 overall and 1-3 in Conference USA play. The Bulldogs moved to 6-2, becoming bowl eligible, and are 4-1 in league play.

FAU will travel to FIU for the 17th Annual Shula Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 3. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Stadium.
