NBA: Heat Too Much for Knick at Sold Out AA Arena

MIAMI – (Florida Sports Wire) – The Miami Heat defeated the New York Knicks 110-87 Wednesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Hassan Whiteside led the way for the HEAT with 22 points.

He recorded his third double-double this season and his fifth career against the Knicks with a game-high 22 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Whiteside added a season-high three blocked shots.  He scored 13 of his 22 points in the third quarter on 4-for-4 shooting.

Rodney McGruder’s 19 points was one shy of his career high 20 points, set in his last game vs. Charlotte. Over his last three games he is averaging 19.3 points per game. He made all three of his three-point field goal attempts and is shooting 57.1 percent on threes this season (12-for-21).

The Heat is 56-64 all-time in the regular season against the Knicks, which includes a 32-28 record in games played in Miami. The Heat has won three of the last four meetings between the clubs, including the last three at home.

The game was the Miami’s highest scoring quarter since they scored 45 points in the third quarter at Philadelphia in 2013. In the third quarter the Heat shot 75 percent (15-for-20) from the field and 80 percent (8-of-10) from three-point range.

Miami recorded a home sellout tonight, 19,600,  for the 322nd consecutive regular season game and for the 380th consecutive game including the postseason.

The Knicks extend their losing streak to four games (1-4), after a season-opening home victory against Atlanta. Wednesday night was their only visit to Miami this season, but they will host the  Miami  twice this season at MSG, on January 27 and March 30

The Heat host the Portland Trail Blazers at the AmericanAirlines Arena on Saturday at 8 pm.
