NASL: The Miami FC Announces Roster Adjustments

MIAMI – The Miami FC, Miami’s only professional fútbol club, announced a number of roster adjustments in preparation for its 2017 campaign.

As a result of these adjustments, the following players have been released by the Club: F Roberto Alterio; F Pablo Campos; D Joe Franco; D Hugo Leroux; M Wilson Palacios; M Dane Richards; M Connor Rezende.

“Today we begin the process of preparing for 2017 and our march to the playoffs,” said Head Coach Alessandro Nesta. “We want to thank the players for all their work and dedication last season, and wish them the very best of luck in their future careers.”

In its first season, Miami FC experienced spectacular growth both on the pitch and off. The season kicked off in true Miami fashion before 10,156 screaming fans – the highest attended NASL match in 2016. After a challenging NASL Spring Season, the squad turned in the strongest performance of any Florida NASL team for the Fall Season.

The Miami FC finished in the top five after posting separate four-game and six-game unbeaten streaks, in the process knocking down league front-runners Indy Eleven and FC Edmonton, and registering a dominating 4-0 away victory against Minnesota United FC.

At home, the Orange and Blue continued to draw large crowds of supporters to FIU Stadium. Led by the Dade Brigade, the Miami FC posted the three highest attended games in NASL this season. In addition, the Miami FC posted average attendance of 6,229 fans, the highest average of all Florida-based NASL teams in the Fall Season.

The club drew nearly 87,000 fans to FIU Stadium throughout the entire season – the highest for an expansion team this season.
