MARLINS: Riddle, Garcia, Chaffee On the Move in Minor League Roster Changes

The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster.

Infielder J.T. Riddle has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Riddle has played in 101 games for the Suns this season, hitting .278 with three homers and 51 RBI, and recently had a 25-game hitting streak from June 23 to August 6. This is the second call-up to the Triple-A level in Riddle’s career and the first in 2016.

Additionally, right-handed relief pitcher Ryan Chaffee has been transferred from Triple-A New Orleans to Jacksonville. Chaffee with the Zephyrs made one appearance, allowing four runs in two and two-thirds innings on Tuesday in Salt Lake City. Chaffee has made 26 relief appearances for the Suns this season, going 2-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 38 innings pitched to go along with two saves.

Also, left-handed pitcher Jarlin Garcia has returned from his rehab assignment from the GCL Marlins, reinstated from Jacksonville’s disabled list and optioned to High-A Jupiter. Garcia made three rehab starts for the GCL Marlins, now allowing any runs during his four innings of work. Garcia had been 1-3 with a 4.54 ERA in nine starts with the Suns before he was placed on the disabled list on May 30 with a left triceps strain.

The Suns roster now stands at 24 active players.
