NASL: Miami FC Plays to 3-3 Draw Against Carolina RailHawks

CARY, N.C. – After 90+ minutes of intense action, the Miami FC drew 3-3 against the Carolina RailHawks with two goals from Jaime Chavez and one from Poku. WakeMed Soccer Park was the stage for one of the most exciting matches that Miami FC has played yet.

It was a battle that kept putting the Carolina RailHawks in tough spots, during the first half the Miami FC were superior in duels, interceptions, and dominated in possession with 53.6%.

The Miami FC showed a very collective team effort that created many chances from the start. Just a few minutes in, forward Jaime Chavez was on point after a great passing sequence from Jonathan Borrajo, he was able to get on the score sheet, notching his third goal for the club. The intensity continued but the Miami FC backline was a wall blocking any chances that the RailHawks tried.

After a couple of set pieces, the RailHawks, Matt Fondy, found the ball after a scramble in the box to put Carolina on the scoreboard and leveling the match 1-1.

Like the last time these two sides met, goalkeeper Daniel Vega comes up big for the Miami FC with multiple saves, including a huge stop off a set piece from Carolina’s Omar Bravo. In the 38th minute, Poku dribbles through the defense, past the Carolina goalkeeper, for an easy finish, making it 2-1 just before the half.

The momentum carried over into the second half as the Miami FC controlled the ball early on. After a heated back and fourth, Carolina’s Brian Shriver finishes a cross with a header to tie the match 2-2.

In the 64th minute, head coach Alessandro Nesta makes his first subs of the match with Dario Cvitanich coming in for Campos and Adailton for Mason Trafford. Two important saves by Miami FC keeper Vega maintained the match tied up until the 79th minute, then Carolina’s Bravo scores putting the RailHawks ahead 3-2.

In the 81st minute, Chavez comes up big again, scoring his second goal of the night after a great ball from Cvitanich, leveling the match 3-3. The Miami FC leave WakeMed Park with a point at the final whistle, ending the match 3-3.

The Miami FC returns to FIU stadium next Saturday, July 30 as they play at home against Indy Eleven.
