SUNS: Mooney Goes 3-for-4 with Two Doubles in 3-0 Loss

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns (5-5) fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (8-2) by a 3-0 score during the fifth and final game of the series at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Saturday night.

Pensacola scored all of its runs in a three-run bottom of the fourth off Suns starter Tim Berry (0-1) who took the loss. The left-hander allowed three runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts during his five and two-thirds innings of work.

Wahoos right-hander Rookie Davis (2-0) took the win, after pitching six scoreless innings where he gave up five hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Pensacola reliever Kyle McMyne earned his third save with a scoreless ninth.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Davis brought home a run with a groundout to second to give the Wahoos a 1-0 lead. The next batter Beau Amaral delivered a two-RBI double that gave the Blue Wahoos a 3-0 lead, which would be the final score.

Jacksonville’s Peter Mooney shined at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in the game. The second baseman’s effort was the first three-hit performance the Suns have had in 2016. Following Berry’s outing, Patrick Johnson and Blake Logan provided scoreless innings of relief pitching out of the Jacksonville bullpen.

The Wahoos took four out of five games in the series, and the Suns have an even record of 5-5.
